Open Studio & Gallery with Featured Artist Jane Burkholder

Please join us in welcoming guest fiber artist Jane Burkholder at the next Torch Jewelry Collective Open Studio & Gallery event.

Friday, October 21st | 4pm – 8pm
Saturday, October 22nd | 11am – 5pm

Jane Burkholder, from Sisters, Oregon, has always been a maker and a doer. Beginning at an early age she dabbled in any medium available to her. Her third decade was devoted to the study of ceramics and calligraphy, skills which served her well as she embarked on a long (and continuing) career as a pastry chef. Along the way she became a fiber artist and yoga instructor and continues to hone her three passions with joy and enthusiasm.

Jane’s hats are created from sheets of felt that she makes using a variety of fine fibers – merino wool, alpaca, cashmere – as well as fiber from her angora bunny, Anouk.  The felt is either left in its natural color or more often dyed, including use of natural indigo. Embroidery and appliqué takes place before cutting and sewing the finished hat. The photos below are examples of her fine work.
